Shine follows Shayne, a young boy navigating the challenges of growing up with unwavering optimism and heart despite facing some of life's most challenging sorrows. His journey is one of self-discovery, resilience, and the courage to believe in the face of great uncertainty.
Told through our proprietary state-of-the-art hybrid animation pipelines that combines traditional animation and generative technologies, ILLUMINAI Studios has created a film that celebrates life and the human spirit as a beacon of light in the darkest of times.

Behind the Scenes
Artist-Driven Character Animation
Shayne and his world were brought to life using a custom combination of hand drawn character poses and sets, 2.5D & 3D models and environments, and state-of-the-art AI neural animation pipelines that blends animator's keyframe poses with in-between frames based on a hybrid of agentic efficiencies and human creativity.
Voice & Emotional Performance
The emotional core of Shine comes from a deeply human performance — with AI tools helping refine lip sync, micro-expressions, and scene timing to match the voice acting perfectly.
World Building
Every environment in Shine was meticulously human designed with a painterly aesthetic, drawing inspiration from classic 2D and 3D animations and period accurate photography to assemble a sense of believability with a unique art direction. All lighting and set design was purposefully directed by the art team prior to AI's implementation.
Music & Sound Design
The score was composed to reinforce Shayne's journey — a blend of orchestral warmth and modern production, crafted to evoke both wonder and resilience.
