Behind the Scenes
Artist-Driven Character Animation
To bring Shayne's story to life, ILLUMINAI Studios engineered a NextGen production workflow combining classic hand-drawn keyposes, bespoke 2D and 3D environment and character modeling, and state-of-the-art generative tools. By integrating performance capture from real artists and actors, we are able to drive the 3d models animation along side traditional methods to achieve advanced motion.
Voice & Emotional Performance
The emotional core of Shine comes from a deeply human performance. Utilizing decades of traditional animation experience, training in filmmaking, we leverage cutting art generative tools to reduce high repetitive tasks to allow our animators to focus on being creative more while maintaining an art focused orientation.
World Building
Every environment in Shine was meticulously human designed with a painterly aesthetic, drawing inspiration from classic 2D and 3D animations and period accurate photography to assemble a sense of believability with a unique art direction. All lighting and set design was purposefully directed by the art team prior to AI's implementation.
Music & Sound Design
The score was composed to reinforce Shayne's journey — a blend of orchestral warmth and modern production, crafted to evoke both wonder and resilience.
